The Checkpoints

Clarification of the email links on this page. They are for in-between races to ask questions regarding volunteering - regardless of whether you are a ham operator or wish to help the ham radio operators in some way - just let us know if you are a ham or not.

To get more information on a particular checkpoint, click the link on the right. Not all of them have information but we hope to rectify that in the future. Checkpoints 5, 8, and 9 are roadcrossings only, not manned checkpoints, which is why you won't find them listed.

"Net Control" - Email regarding this checkpoint

Database - though not a checkpoint, the database and net control is the heart of the radio communications. Several years ago, Newcomb's Checkpoint leader, Gerry Walsh, wrote a little dos program called RunnerTrack to make it easier for his checkpoint to communicate, via radio, with the database. As of 2005, all the checkpoints are using his program, and 2006 saw the first use of the Windows version of his program.
