Christening*24 November 1859 He was christened on 24 November 1859 at Storkyrkan parish, Stockholm, Sweden; "He was illegitimate and his parents were unknown. His mother was 26 years old. The address given in the birth record, Baggensgatan 23, was the address of the midwife."1
CAUTION Anders Erik August Zanteson and Oscar August Zanteson have the following CAUTIONARY INFORMATION: Though there is not yet any documentation proving firsthand that Oscar is the son of Anders and Sophia, the fact that Oscar had possession of Anders obit and passed it down in the family, along with the circumstantial evidence surrounding the various facts that have been found, indicates the likelyhood.
Event-Misc*  "Fortunately Oscar August was admitted to Allmanna barnhuset (the Public Orphanage). In the Orphanage records he was listed as number 4296 Oscar August Ringqvist. We enclose a copy. His fostermother was named Sofia Ringqvist. Oscar August lived with her as long as he was an orphanage child." Note that though referred to as fostermother, he lived with her until he moved to America, giving the impression that she was his mother. That impression is strengthened by the fact that his mother was the same age at his birth as the age of his fostermother.1
(Witness) Census1873 He appeared on the census of 1873 in the household of Sofia Albertina Ringqvist at Hantverkargatan 4, Kungsholmen parish, Stockholm, Sweden; same address as Anders but not in same household.1
(Witness) Census1878 Oscar August Zanteson appeared on the census of 1878 in the household of Sofia Albertina Ringqvist at Klarabergsgatan 23, St Clara parish, Stockholm, Sweden; "Oscar August did use the name Zanteson on the census paper for 1879" (that would be for 1878) "The name Ringqvist has been added."1
MovedTo*22 July 1879 Oscar August Zanteson moved to America on 22 July 1879.1
Immigration*1879 He appeared on an immigration record 1879. His info on the record included - The 1900 census says 1877. Grandson's generation thought it was 1873 as a 15/16 year old . In light of the naturalization date, 1877 makes more sense. However, since he moved from Stockholm in 1879, that date would be the right one.
Census1880*1880 He appeared on the 1880 census as the head of household, an unknown place . His info on the census included Not found on the census CD using various search methods. He may have gotten missed.
Naturalization*25 September 1884 He was naturalized on 25 September 1884 at County Court Vol 128 #318 (or 218?), Kings Co., New York; witness to naturalization is Charles W W Akberg. This from SLC 1487353, the soundex (Z532) index. SLC does not have the court records, so you will have to send for the naturalization papers. Be sure to ask for the petition too, you want the entire file.
Marriage* He married Mathilda Skoog, daughter of Nils Anderson Skog and Christina Malm, at Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York; Marriage records for Brooklyn don't start until 1894.
Census*1892 Oscar August Zanteson appeared on a census 1892 . His info on the census included: There is an 1892 census available, but it's not indexed and covers many rolls of microfilm. Once you know what ward or enumeration district he was in, you can narrow that search down by searching for film # 1930244 to bring up the list of films.
Marriage*1894 He married Alma Mathilda Alm, daughter of Johan Alexis Alm and Clara Mathilda Thureson, in 1894; married 5 years in 1900 census and Zan Hoffman says it was 1894
